Help on Accessing On-Line Links

This document describes how to access some on-line documents which are linked through ADS, but maintained at other sites. Some documents linked through ADS may require a username and password, in which case details on who to contact for more information is provided below.

Astrophysical Journal:

HTML and PDF versions of articles appearing in the Astrophysical Journal, Astrophysical Journal Letters and Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series since the beginning of 1997 are provided by University of Chicago Press to institutional and individual subscribers. Individuals who have paid for electronic access have been sent IDs and passwords by e-mail. If you have not received your ID and password, please send e-mail to help@www.journals.uchicago.edu. Scanned versions of ApJ articles prior to 1997 are freely available from ADS, by following the "G" link to our online version.

Astronomical Journal:

HTML and PDF versions of AJ articles since the beginning of 1998 are provided by University of Chicago Press to institutional and individual subscribers of the AJ. Individuals who have paid for electronic access have been sent IDs and passwords by e-mail. If you have not received your ID and password, please send e-mail to help@www.journals.uchicago.edu. Scanned versions of AJ articles prior to 1998 are freely available from ADS, by following the "G" link to our online version.

Astronomy & Astrophysics:

Starting in 2001, HTML, Postscript, and PDF version of A&A articles are available from EDP Sciences. Access is provided for registered sites who have subscriptions to the printed version of the journal. For more information, contact web@edpsciences.org.

Volumes of A&A published between 1/1997 and 12/2000 are available from its old publisher, Springer-Verlag (contact helpdesk@link.springer.de for help). Volumes of Astronomy & Astrophysics Supplements (A&AS) published between 1997 and 2000 are available from EDP Sciences under the conditions outlined above.

Scanned versions of A&A and A&AS articles prior to 1997 are freely available from ADS, by following the "G" link to our online version.

New Astronomy:

New Astronomy is available electronically from Elsevier Science B.V., Amsterdam. They offer a two-month trial access free for users, following which users or their instituion's library must have a subscription. For more information, contact their publisher at m.kolman@elsevier.nl.

Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific:

HTML and PDF versions of PASP articles since the beginning of 1998 are provided by University of Chicago Press to institutional and individual subscribers of the PASP. Individuals who have paid for electronic access have been sent IDs and passwords by e-mail. If you have not received your ID and password, please send e-mail to help@www.journals.uchicago.edu. Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society:

HTML and PDF versions of MNRAS articles from late 1998 are provided by Blackwell Science Ltd to institutional and individual subscribers of the MNRAS. Access is provided for registered sites who have subscriptions to the printed version of the journal. For more information, contact mnras@blacksci.co.uk.

Scanned versions of MNRAS which are more than two years old are freely available from ADS, by following the "G" link to our online version.

SIMBAD:

Links to the Simbad references are indicated by the presence of "S" links which when followed generate lists of objects available for free from the SIMBAD project at CDS. Hyperlinks available in these documents may take you to pages which are accessible only by SIMBAD users. NED:

Links to the NED objects provided with the "N" links give object lists which are available for free from the NED project at Caltech. For more information, please contact ned@ipac.caltech.edu.
